Understanding your final Tab charge

When you sign up with a Tab, your Tab balance will be split into 24 months. Each month, you’ll pay a Tab charge, which reduces the Tab balance until it reaches $0.

With that said, you may be wondering why you're seeing a final tab charge on your invoice despite Self Serve saying your tab has already reached zero dollars. This can be confusing, but there's a simple explanation for it.

The reason for this is because the tab balance date does not necessarily match the bill cycle date. Let's say you purchased a phone and started a tab on Nov 8th, 2020. Koodo will reduce the tab balance evenly for the following 24 months ensuring that the tab is completely paid off by Oct 7th, 2022.

Now for this scenario, let’s pretend your bill cycle ends on the 25th of each month. This means that your first tab charge appeared on the Nov 25th, 2020 invoice. Which also means that your last payment would end up being billed to the Oct 25th, 2022 invoice.

So, even if you see a $0 balance on your Self Serve account, it's important to remember that this balance may not necessarily match up with your billing cycle. If you see a final tab charge on your invoice, it's simply the last payment that needs to be made on your tab. Once this payment is made, your tab will be fully paid off and you’ll no longer see a Tab charge on your invoice.

Still have doubts? You can validate this yourself by counting all of the Tab payments since you purchased your phone. There should be a total of 24.
