US Easy-roaming charges in error


After a recent visit to US, we apparently incurred roaming charges of $154 on one of our Koodo lines. I believe that data had been left on by mistake triggering the charges because we made no calls or texts on that line on March 8-17. The other charge is legit on March 7. I realize that it was our fault - however we did not use any cell phone services for the days we were charged. We would appreciate it if that charge was removed. If I need to use another way to make this request, I would appreciate the information. Thanks for your help.

Hi there,

If you follow the steps in the article below, you can actually see the amount of usage of the line in question on your travels that triggered the charge. 

If the amount is very low (1-2MB) then it might just be data leakage and the charges can be reviewed.

However, if the amounts are larger, then unfortunately it is using a feature of the plan on that line. Even if you didn't call or text, the usage would still be valid for Easy Roam charges.

We have looked into it and we see there is low data usage each day and in some days also text messages.

Please check the link shared by Oliver above for more details about how to prevent roaming in the future.

Hi - thanks for the reply. I immediately checked the usage as suggested by Oliver, and found that details were not available, neither was there an option to view usage from last billing period. Checked back several times, still not available. As of this morning, still not available. The phone number in question is the one used by my wife. She told me that she was careful not to use data, in fact she says it was switched off for the dates in question. She received texts, but did not send any, nor did she make any calls in the US from March 8-17. I believe her. Would someone from Koodo please check for us. I still believe that these charges are made in error.and would like them removed.

From what can be verified, usage is present in the days that were charged and the charges are valid.
