Answer

Separate accounts

My account has my husband on it as a second line.

Is it possible to take my husband off my account and set up his own account and bring his own number?

We want to take advantage of the autopay discount and that only applies to my line.

Thanks

If you would like to just get the discount and you’re happy with the device he has, then you can change his plan anytime in your self serve account to one that is applicable for the discount. As the account is setup for pre-authorised bank payment already, he would also receive the benefits.

If a cheaper plan shows up for his line and you would like to switch to it to take advantage of the discount as opposed to upgrading, you can follow the steps below. Might be worth taking a look, you may find something better. 🙂

Hey there,

Yes, you can separate your husband’s line and set up his own Koodo account, while keeping his number. This is called a transfer of ownership.

The account owner needs to request the transfer. There’s a one-time $50 fee, and a credit check for your husband. Once it’s done, your husband will have his own account, and you’ll each be eligible for the autopay discount on your separate lines.

Quick tip: Start the process by using Koodo Assist and searching for “transfer of ownership.”

Is your husband already planning to set up his own Self Serve account, or does he need a hand with that?

Thank you so much for the response.

We are not sure if we will do it but its good to know it can be arranged.

If there is a good deal on Black Friday for a phone upgrade and a good plan then we won’t bother but its good to know that it is a possibility if we want to go that way.

Thanks

Hi

Thank you for your response.

Are you saying that if he changes his plan to one that included the autopay discount, regardless of whether he upgrades his phone or not, that the discount will apply to his line on our bill as well as mine?

Sorry I just want to understand it correctly.

Thanks

You got it 😎

If he changes his plan to an eligible one and you already have pre-authorised payment via bank account setup on the account, then he will begin receiving the discount starting on the next billing cycle.

You receive the discount on all lines as long as the plan is eligible and you have the payment method setup. So if you make the change, after your next cycle, you will begin to receive 2x$10 credits on your bill. More info can be found in the link. 🙂
