Same plan, price increase by $7 net without prior notice

My koodo plan has cost the same for over a year, but it increased by $7 in the latest billing notice. The previous month’s billing does not indicate this anywhere.

On self-serve, there is a notice explaining why it’s more expensive. It declares $12 in added charges due to a plan change -- I have never changed plans. Zero additional incurred charges.

Obviously scummy and good enough reason to switch carriers as is. I have been entirely unable to reach customer support also (classic). For convenience alone I’d stay for the same cost, but I’d like to hear an explanation out of a person for once.

Please download last month (April or Mar) PDF e-bill and scroll down to the bottom of the page.  (I know most of us don't check whole pages especially the last page.)

There should be a note about increasing your plan price.

Hello!

It’s the same for me as well. I have $12 increase on my bill tis month. I checked my last month’s billing, but there was no notice that there will be a change in my plan.

@Rhia Did you read the last page for this notice? did you review the detailed breakdown if there was some specific other charge or the rate plan itself increased?

Check 2 or 3 bills previous for the notice.  Mine was 2 bills previous.  It said at the top:

Changes to your billing Your monthly bill is being increased. Please refer to the last page of this statement for additional details

On the last page it said:

Update to your monthly rate plan Starting March 2026, your monthly bill will increase by $5. Here's why: Your rate plan fee will increase from $50 to $60, but your Pre-authorised debit payment discount will also increase from $5 to $10, resulting in a net increase of $5.

If you do not agree with this change, you may cancel your service without penalty within 30 days of the effective date of the change.

What penalty are you referring to? You’re free to change your plan in self serve at any time you’d like!

What penalty would that be, Rhia? I’m not entirely sure what this “penalty” involves, but you should always be able to change your plan to one that’s better suited. You might even be able to negotiate a personal plan with Koodo - or perhaps you’ll find a nice personalized offer in self serve :)

@Sophia I also don’t know what the penalty might be but that was mentioned in the notice.

Hi Rhia,

It says "if you cancel..."

Do you want to cancel your service? Even tho, there is no penalty to cancel.

They don't give you penalty if you change your plan. They increased the price. Do you see any better plan through the self serve?

Ok I can see how you are interpreting that.

What it means is that if you dont want the higher plan pricing, you can leave prior to the plan price increase AND there is also no penalties if you do leave.

BUT if you do leave after the 30 days, there is still no penalties, but you will be paying the higher plan rate during that time.
