Question

Removing Child Line From Account

I would like to remove a couple of lines from my account. They belong to my children, and now they grown up and I thinks its time they pay for their own phones.

Does anyone have experience with this and able to give me some insight on what to do?

Thank you!

If you want to cancel the lines you can schedule a callback with customer service at Koodo.com/chat. If you do this, their lines will immediately be stopped and they will lose their numbers however.

If you want them to keep their numbers, they will have to call customer service to create a new account and run a credit check under their information, then customer service will call you to approve the transfer.

Hi @BluWolfy, if they’d like to keep their numbers and plans you can initiate a Transfer of Ownership for their lines by calling in. Once initiated, they can complete the transfers within 10 days. Here is more information on the transfer process https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/transfer-of-ownership-town

The Transfer of ownership costs $75 per line.

Note that CRTC has banned activation fees to new activations dont have these fees expect for a possible sim card fee or device handling charge.  If your children are ok losing their numbers, then signing up new might be the smarter option.

Also Black Friday is not that far away.  I would also suggest waiting until then.  In the past carrier have waived activation fees.  No promises if any of these new fees will be waived during black friday or boxing day.

You can speak with your children and let them decide what they want to do with their number.

There are a few options:

  1. Keep their lines on your account and have them pay you back every month
  2. Open their own account and proceed with a transfer of ownership
  3. Port out to another carrier
  4. Switch to Koodo Prepaid

The first and third options are the most economical, but it may be worthwhile to consider the last option if they do not pass their credit check.
