Public Mobile Migration Nightmare: Promised $30 for 50GB but charges now appearing $40

I was previously a Public Mobile customer but was offered $30/50GB to transition over to Koodo. I was paying the same amount as a Public Mobile customer but for 20GB. I just received my bill and it is appearing as $40. I no longer have access to my Public Mobile account and I don’t have a screenshot of the offer that was given to me.

The offer stood as $30/50GB, without the auto-payment discount, so this is false advertising on Koodo’s end. I’ve tried to click on the “Want us to review a charge on your bill? We’ll review it and respond within 4 hours.” but it’s not even a clickable link and it doesn’t lead to anywhere.

Had I known I was going to be paying more, I would’ve not done the migration. Thoroughly disappointing experience.

Hi

Is this your first bill since the migration? First bills are usually prorated, so they cover a partial period plus the month ahead and land higher than the plan price. The line by line breakdown in the Billing tab of Self Serve will show that, and https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/why-your-koodo-bill-may-be-higher-than-you-expected goes through the common reasons.

If the breakdown shows the plan itself at $40 rather than proration, the text on the bill isn't the way in. Go into Self Serve, Billing, and use Ask us to review a charge from there, more on it here https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/ask-us-to-review-a-charge-on-your-bill

A missing credit or discount you were expecting is exactly one of the cases it's meant for, and they get back to you by text or email.

Hi there,

when you check your Koodo self serve, does it indeed reflect that the plan is $40 instead of $30 Or does it show as expected when you review the plan for your line?

I suggest you check your full monthly bill in case you checked only the bill summary. It will have a breakdown of all of your current charges. As Dinh mentions, proration applies on your first bill after switching providers. This is the case with all postpaid providers, so the first bill is commonly higher because of this. You can download your full pdf bill by following the steps here: https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/viewing-and-downloading-your-bills
