Need to Dispute Roaming Charges

I would like to dispute Easy Roaming charges on my bill from Mar 6-8 in Salt Lake City. I had turned off Koodo mobile data completely while in the US, only using my mom’s hotspot if needed. I don’t understand how the Easy Roam was activated, but can you please waive this?

Hi there,

Roaming is charged when you use any of your plans services while roaming on a non-canadian network outside of Canada. This includes: phone calls, sending text messages, receiving text messages that require data, using data, and checking / calling your voicemail.

In this case, turning off data roaming would not have prevented the charges as you had made calls while out of Canada, so this cannot be disputed here as you did indeed use your services.

To dispute further, I suggest you schedule a callback with a rep and speak to the loyalty dept as they may be able to help with a waiver, but there is no guarantees. You can do this by following the chat bot prompts on koodo assist below.

Hello @JX minor We verified the recent invoice and found that the Easy Roam charges were activated by making and receiving calls while Roaming in the US. You can check the details by downloading the invoice as PDF.

Thank you for the quick response. I have reviewed the details of the invoice. Those were very short and limited calls. I wasn’t aware the roaming was on because I have turned off the mobile data. I just searched it, turning off mobile data and turning off roaming are two different things. This is a lesson learned for me. $33 dollars are too much, even higher than my regular fee. Can I get a partial waiver?
