Koodo, the worst chat help on the internet?

My mother received a collections service notice in the post. It says she owes money to them because of a Koodo (stupid name as well...)   account. She doesn’t remember having a Koodo account ever. She’s 89 and might have been tricked into signing up for it but she never used it. I’ve spent an hour trying to get help yesterday and again today. I tried through fb messaging but that was less than useless and a total waste of time. How do I get someone to call her or me, her son, to sort this out?

Not expecting much,

Kevin

Once the debt is sent to a collection agency, it is no longer handled by Koodo. You will need to follow up with them directly and ask for proof that your mother had a Koodo account.

This sounds serious — sorry your mom is going through this. If she doesn't remember opening a Koodo account and may have been tricked, this is potentially fraud. I would recommend you

- Contact Equifax to open a fraud investigation on her credit report — flag the collections entry as disputed.
- Request a formal fraud investigation from Koodo.

- Schedule a callback via Koodo Assist at koodomobile.com/chat and clearly state it's suspected fraud involving an elderly person. If callbacks keep failing, try Facebook Messenger or X - links are below at the bottom of this forum webpage — mention it's a fraud/collections issue with an 89-year-old to help get it escalated.

Koodo reps can't access an account from the forum alone, so you'll need to get on a call or through chat. If the account was opened fraudulently, Koodo is also a victim of this as well. Hopefully they can close it and work with Equifax to remove the collections entry.

Hello Dinh

Tried to schedule a callback but it wouldn’t work, I used her phone number (the only phone number she’s had for many years with Rogers) and I assume because the number isn’t in Koodo’s system (do they have a system lol?) it doesn’t work. I tried FB messanger and no luck there. I’ve done everything I can. They need to call me or my mom.

For now I’m assuming the claim is just another scam.

When you mentioned “it didn’t work” what error did you encounter? did you ask to schedule a call as a “non-Koodo” customer? Unfortunately, you have to follow that channel to get a call from Koodo.

Facebook/X messaging isn’t a live chat, you might have to wait 1,2 day for a reply

What does it say on the collections service notice?
