I made some phone calls while in the UK to my insurance company in Canada and received some significant charges that I thought were covered under easy roam
Is any able to let me know why ?

Looks like you dialed an international toll free number which aren’t included in easy roam:

+4Easyroam didn’t cover the call to 1800 number unfortunately.
In their link of easyroam https://www.koodomobile.com/en/easyroam it said: “ Easy Roam does not cover calling North American Toll Free Exchanges (1-800, 844, 855, 866, 877, and 888) from outside of North America. These numbers are charged the roaming pay-per-use overage rate.”
