Question

inadvertent roaming charge- $18??

I have an unexpected $18 roaming charge (“Easy Roam INTL”) on my latest bill. The only possible explanation I can think of is this: while at the Lisbon airport before boarding my flight back to Canada, I removed the travel SIM card I had been using (not a Koodo SIM). After reinstalling my Koodo SIM card, I briefly powered on my phone — for no more than five seconds — just to confirm it would work when I landed in Toronto. I immediately turned it off again.

It appears that this momentary connection triggered an $18 roaming charge.

I haven’t been able to reach a Koodo representative to explain the situation, so I’m using this review process in hopes of having the charge reversed.

Hi @TravelUser999

We have looked into it and we have been able to remove the charge since it was due to data leakage.

For more info about how to prevent unwanted roaming charges, please check out this article https://community.koodomobile.com/plans-services-232910/easy-roam-understanding-how-you-will-be-charged-while-traveling-7811296

Yeah that is Easy Roam triggering at 4:37pm and 9:16AM.  What triggered these?  Did you follow the instruction in the article?

Did data use trigger this or a sent SMS?
