I often take the ferry from Vancouver to Vancouver Island and occasionally get charged for US roaming because it thinks I'm traveling in America. This is super annoying. How can I fix this?
Which phone do you have?
If you live or travel close to the U.S. border, turn off automatic network selection and manually select Koodo as your mobile network operator. To avoid roaming charges, turn data and data roaming off.
To turn off automatic network selection, follow the steps below. The guide for Android is from an older device, the menus may have changed slightly.
On Android, go to Settings > Connections > Mobile networks > Network operators. Select Search networks, then select Koodo.
On iPhone, go to Settings > Mobile Data > Network Selection. Slide the automatic network selection toggle switch to the off position. Select Koodo from the list.
