Sorry to hear about it.

Just to confirm, did the balance end up going to a collection agency, or was it only reported as a late payment?

Either way, here is where things stand: Koodo reports your payment history to the credit bureaus as a fully automated process, so once a late payment has been reported it's generally not something they can reverse as a goodwill adjustment — even after the account is paid to zero. That's why no one could help you when you called, that part is really out of their hands. https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/past-due-bill

If it did go through a collection agency, I'd contact that agency directly and make sure they've updated the bureaus to show it as paid/settled — Koodo can't change the collections file for you, the agency has to.

As well, the impact usually eases over time as positive payment history builds back up. Setting up pre-authorized payments in Self Serve is the easiest way to avoid it happening again.

No its just a missed payment on my credit

If that is the case, I believe the impact on your credit score is quite minimal (if any at all). I wouldn’t worry so much and just focus on the next few months to make sure the payments are on time.

I recently had this happen too. Its a joke that it got reported and dropped my credit score from an 805 down to 720 with zero contact from Koodo to make me aware the payment was overdue. The only reason it was even overdue is I tried to change my automatic withdrawal to come out of my chequing account instead of my credit card to save $10 a month on my plan. Apparently there was a disconnect with the account change and the payment never came out. I have been with koodo for 9 years and pay for two phones and never missed a payment before this. I am extremely frustrated that I cannot seem to get through to an actual human. I also don’t understand why they did not attempt to call me to collect the overdue payment first. Had I been aware I would have gladly paid it.

Honestly it made a massive change to my credit at a very important time

Same here, I was shocked to see how much it dropped my credit from one month to the next. Please let me know if you get any headway with Koodo and I will do the same. If they cannot do anything I am going to cancel both of my phone plans, and switch providers

Unfortunately, unless you have proof that there was an error in credit reporting, the late payment will remain. I personally had a few late payments on my credit card, but it didn't affect my score too much, though.

It really depends on how long you missed your payment. The credit rating gets worse after 30 days when the debt becomes delinquent. After 90 days, it will eventually get sent to a collection agency.

There is no way to have it removed from your credit report and it will stay there for 6 years, but you can make sure your existing debts are paid on time to guarantee that your credit goes back up.

I paid it just didnt pay the full amount that was owed and it was only 30 days.
