Looks like monthly plans now (if you activated or changed your plan in the last few weeks) include "Free incoming roaming SMS" but there's no description available as to what it is. Did Koodo (I don't see it on TELUS) finally decide not to charge for Incoming SMS while roaming in other countries?
Actually it is for texts received only in the USA; when clients are Roaming in different countries, still 0.60$/sms fee applies for incoming or outgoing text messages...
The fact they're making it so you have to be a new customer or change your plan to one of the new plans to get this is quite horrible of Koodo, IMO. This is the first company I have ever heard to get rid of the fee by making it part of a plan, thus making you change yours to take advantage of it. I'm quite disappointed by Koodo
While still an improvement for koodo new customers, old ones would be pretty disappointed
I wonder why Yannick hasn't jumped into this topic and replied yet.
I wonder why Yannick hasn't jumped into this topic and replied yet.Well, he should have, particularly because I don't see anywhere what you guys are talking about. 🙂 No plan that I can see shows that incoming roaming text message are included. Could be that I'm blind. 🙂 Their most recent add-ons have indeed been changed back to what we all liked, which is unlimited text, so no longer have to worry about incoming texts while travelling in the US. But these add-ons are available to everyone.
I wonder why Yannick hasn't jumped into this topic and replied yet.Ya know what? I don't see it either. And looking at the text my wife got. It says we don't have to purchase anything. So I don't think Koodo is planning to only offer it to new customers or plan changes. But who knows. My answer below to still stands methinks.
I wonder why Yannick hasn't jumped into this topic and replied yet.Go to Plan change on self-serve and choose one of the plans available, you'll see "Free incoming roaming SMS" before confirming the change.
I wonder why Yannick hasn't jumped into this topic and replied yet.So it's being offered first to new customers or those who change their plans. Company wide roll out is August 28
I wonder why Yannick hasn't jumped into this topic and replied yet.You got it, Chad. We started offering free incoming on new plans earlier this year, but will make a company wide roll out on August 28th.
It's just like any other plan koodo offers. You keep it until you want to get rid of it. Koodo won't force you to change but they may offer incentives to do so. My wife got a text that her out of market plan will be getting the feature on August 28. I suspect a lot of other grandfathered plans may get it as well. I guess users will need to weigh their options and decide if it's a feature worth changing plans for. I won't be switching, but I may not have to (I haven't received the text yet). On another point. Yannick, or any other employees, usually won't step in unless there is a point that we're all confused on or someone has given misinformation. Since that hasn't happened, I wouldn't expect an official response.
It's just like any other plan koodo offers. You keep it until you want to get rid of it. Koodo wo...I'm confused. What text did you get Chad?
It's just like any other plan koodo offers. You keep it until you want to get rid of it. Koodo wo...According to one person who asked Koodo, it includes the US, Mexico, and the Caribbean roaming but Camilo_A said USA only. So I still don't know which countries.
It's just like any other plan koodo offers. You keep it until you want to get rid of it. Koodo wo...Chad, "It's just like any other plan koodo offers. You keep it until you want to get rid of it. " is not true. Usually it is but not in this case and I said that. A change like this isn't one that would be tied with a plan change. Did you disregard what I said up top? Koodo would have been the first company in Canadian history to do such a thing.
It's just like any other plan koodo offers. You keep it until you want to get rid of it. Koodo wo...Yes, since we're speculating and this is my opinion. Isn't that what happened when they dropped per second billing? They made the other plans more attractive and offered Canada Wide. Not to mention the removal of voicemail as an add on. Designs to intice you to ditch older plans. It's moot anyway, Nathan confirmed on another post that incoming Sms will be free while roaming after Aug 28. http://gsfn.us/t/4km4a
Here is a text very similar to my wifes.

Here is a text very similar to my wifes. [img]https://uploads-us-west-2.insided.com/koodo-en/...Different wording on the other topic but still says the same thing: http://community.koodomobile.com/koodo/topics/is_5140_lehit#reply_14546150 So it is free in all countries, not just the US.
It looks like Koodo is actually indeed giving this to all customers
It looks like Koodo is actually indeed giving this to all customersI'm suspicious of this. These guys never announce things like this this far in advance. Plus, it seems odd that lower rates would only kick on at the end of the summer when most have done their traveling already.
It looks like Koodo is actually indeed giving this to all customersWe're getting them out as soon as possible. We would have liked to catch more of busy travelling season, but we feel it's better late than never!
Some clarity would be nice. What time frame for the 100 texts? Per day or is it per 100, unlimited time? What time frame for the 20mb? Again, is this per day?? Also note, that if I send one text, it will be $5. If its per day, this could cost far more than it does today if you only send one or two texts per day. The incoming is a welcome change, since Koodo was the only hold out and offers no way to disable just SMS.
Some clarity would be nice. What time frame for the 100 texts? Per day or is it per 100, unli...Not just Koodo -Koodo & TELUS (Koodo's parent).
Some clarity would be nice. What time frame for the 100 texts? Per day or is it per 100, unli...Hey Jack, time frame will be for the remainder of your bill cycle - up to a full month. Once you've hit the end of your bill cycle, it will reset.
