I was charged for 5 months of service after canceling koodo home Internet. Why did this happen? What can I do.

Did you receive a cancellation confirmation email from Koodo when you cancelled? If not, your internet may not have been cancelled properly, which would explain the 5 months of charges. Cancelling Koodo Internet is immediate and you get refunded for the remaining days in your bill cycle, so nothing should be charged after that https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/how-do-i-cancel-my-koodo-internet-subscription

As well, did you cancel it yourself in Self Serve or with a rep over the phone? I would recommend logging into Self Serve and going to Subscriptions https://www.koodomobile.com/my-account/manage-subscriptions to check if your Internet subscription still shows as active. If it does, select Manage and cancel it there so the charges stop.

I wasn't able to cancel on the self serve so I called in on Wednesday and spoke to a rep and they cancelled it for me. I just happened to check my bank account and noticed they took 5 months worth of billing out on Friday. When I log into the koodo account it shows the service has been cancelled.

Since Self Serve shows the service as cancelled, the cancellation went through, so the question is what that payment actually covered.

Koodo Internet is paid upfront, so there's no bill like a mobile plan, you just get a receipt for each amount charged to your card. In Self Serve, go to Manage your payment info and view your receipts to see what Friday's charge was for. Was it one large charge or several monthly charges posted at once? And were your monthly Internet payments coming out of your bank as usual before this?

If the charge covers time after Wednesday, that isn't right. Cancelling Koodo Internet is immediate and you should be refunded for the remaining days in your bill cycle https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/how-do-i-cancel-my-koodo-internet-subscription

There were 5 separate payments taken on Friday for the same amount. Yes all previous payments came out fine.

Do you think it's possibly for the modem and router? Once they receive them they'll reverse the charges? They are currently in the mail. I just sent them back on Friday.

It is unlikely you will get a refund for the past few months, but you should be able to get the remaining amount for the days left in the billing cycle.

There are equipment charges for failing to return the modem and router. Do you see a charge of $99.95 plus applicable taxes on your bank statement?

That is strange. Are all 5 payments marked as “posted” and not “pending”? Did they show up on the same date? As well can you check Koodo account to see if there are 5 different charges?
