Let me flag a rep for you to review these accidental roaming charges

To prevent this in the future, please change your network settings from Automatic to Manual and then select koodo.

If you need to use US towers due to poor koodo service coverage, then there are  Canada US plan as well that you may want to look into

Hello @mkma

We have reviewed the details and we have been able to remove the roaming charges since they were triggered due to accidental data roaming, feel free to check the details in your self serve account when you get the chance.

We recommend switching data roaming off and also switch to manual network and select Koodo, this would prevent the connection to a US tower when near the border.

For more info about how to prevent accidental roaming charges, please check out this article https://community.koodomobile.com/plans-services-232910/easy-roam-understanding-how-you-will-be-charged-while-traveling-7811296

Also, feel free to check the available  plans in your self serve account, as you might be eligible for a Canada-US plan: https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/changing-your-rate-plan

With a Canada-US plan, there will be no fees for when the phone picks a US tower while near the border. On top of that, you can use your phone without additional charges in US (some exceptions apply). More about Canada-US plans, you can find here https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/traveling-with-your-canada-us-rate-plan

@JohnnyGee33 have you been outside of the country?

Do you see the easy roam charge in your detailed pdf ebill in your self serve account?

Yes, the charge is on my detailed bill.

I was leaving Las Vegas but was actually on the plane when the charge was time-stamped.

My roaming was never turned on when I was in Las Vegas and have disputed all roaming charges prior to this one on November 20th.

If you follow the article below, can you find out what triggered your easy roam charge?

And were you in Vegas when the charge occurred?

How did you "turn off" your roaming?

Did you follow the instructions posted last month?

To prevent this in the future, please change your network settings from Automatic to Manual and then select koodo.

I was charged for Easy Roam in the past two months, but I did not use my Koodo data. When I traveled to China three months ago, my Koodo mobile data was always turned off, no text, no phone, I only used Wi-Fi and a local SIM card. Please help check these charges. Thank you.

@Dennis Hi, here are all the items and details that I was charged for Easy Roam.

Jan 1 easy roam is triggered by 14 minute call.

You need to follow the instructions in the article I shared above to you to determine what triggered the Easy Roam charge for Dec.29, Dec.30, Jan.7, Jan.9, Jan 15, Feb.9, and Jan,17 twice (were you in 2 different countries?).

@Dennis

I just checked the usage history and it appears that the roaming charges were triggered by some international messages that were sent while I was connected to WiFi, maybe those messages skipped WiFi.

I’m confused because my plan includes unlimited international messaging. Why was roaming still activated and charges applied even though I only sent one international message?

I was only in China during this period. Could you please clarify why this happened and review the charges?

Intrnational messaging is while in Canada using the Koodo network.

When roaming I guess you can use your plan and message internationally as long as you pay the easy roam fee. In this case, it's $18 per day. Roaming is different from international calling and messaging.

This will explain how easy roam works.

On Jan 17 did youh leave China. Did you go to Macau or Hong Kong?
