I never left canada. I live on the border of the USA a 5 min drive. Now that I have gotten my young son his own cell & put him on my plan we both are getting charged this fee. Help us fix this! This is the second easy roam charge I have gotten this year. How do I stop it from happening? Is a refund available & a way to stop it from happening? Thanks

Since you have more than 1 charge, I can flag a rep for you.  What dates were the charges?

Also can you make sure you are logged into the community with your self serve account

To prevent this in the future, please change your phone’s network settings from Automatic to Manual and then selecting Koodo.  Note you may need to reapply this setting after a phone restart.

How many days of easy roaming charges are you disputing on your account?

If you are near the US boarder, to prevent accidental roaming, you need to change your Network Settings from Automatic to Manual and then select Koodo.  You may need to re-apply this setting after a phone restart.

Is your roaming charge already on your bill? If you want to dispute the roaming charges, you need to connect with Koodo.

To connect with a rep:

Log into your self serve > billing > support > " ask us to review a charge". They will response to you.

To prevent the future roaming charges, follow Dennis's advice.

Hi @Gage, we’ve checked the charges you mentioned and as they are accidental roaming we have added a credit to your account, you can check it out in your self-serve.

To avoid future charges please make sure that the data roaming is off in your phone settings and you are manually connecting to the Koodo network.

For more details on how to prevent accidental roaming charges, you can check out the article linked above.

I live in Abbotsford and this has happened to me multiple times. Usually I just reach out to Koodo and they reverse the charge. Today they reversed the charge and told me to turn off my automatic network connection and manually select Koodo when I am near the border and that all future charges would be my responsibility. Nice.

So that would be my suggestion. Because clearly its only a matter of time before you lose your dispute privileges and you could end up with a $16 charge every time you go to Costco or to the airport that you won't be able to dispute and have reversed even though you have not left your country or community.

Hi @BobbieAbby

We recommend checking the available plans in your self serve account, as you might be eligible for a Canada-US plan: https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/changing-your-rate-plan

With a Canada-US plan, there will be no fees for when the phone picks a US tower while near the border,. On top of that, you can use your phone without additional charges in US (some exceptions apply). More about Canada-US plans, you can find here https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/traveling-with-your-canada-us-rate-plan
