Disappointed with Koodo Customer Service

A week ago, I paid my remaining balance to Koodo through mobile banking. Before paying, I called Koodo to clarify my billing and was told that I could get a $5 discount on each line if I set up pre-authorized payments using a Visa or Mastercard. Since I was eligible, I went ahead and set it up for the next billing cycle

However, when I checked my account, I didn’t see the $5 credit, so I called Koodo again. I was then told that I should have set up pre-authorized payments through my bank account instead, which would give me a $10 discount per line.

I was really disappointed because if I had been given the correct information the first time, I would have easily set it up through my bank and saved more.

What upset me even more was that the representative I spoke with said it was not his fault instead of trying to help resolve the issue. As a customer, I expected better service and someone who would take responsibility and care about keeping customers satisfied.

Because of this experience, I’m now considering switching to another provider that can better meet my expectations.

If your plan has the auto pay discount, it is through Auto Pay by bank.

When you login to your Koodo account what does your plan say?

You mentioned that "A week ago,  I paid my remaining balance...".

If that’s the case, are you sure you already received a new bill. If the next bill hasn’t been generated yet, the discount wouldn’t appear in your account at this point.

I understand you’d be upset if the representative gave you incorrect information and you didn’t receive the discount because of that.  But if the new bill is not issued yet, you can still switch your autopay to a bank account so the correct discount applies going forward.

I'm surprised you were told about credit card $5 discount as that's quite outdated now. It is indeed through bank debit to receive $10. And while it's unfortunate it didn't work out in the month you set it up, at least now you know the proper way with a larger discount. It would also apply to the first full billing cycle.

It is unfortunate that the focus wasn't on resolving the issue. I assume you have it set up properly now? Ultimately it is up to you if this has soured your experience to the extent that twant to leave. I would only add that such an incident could readily happen with any telecom as hopefully a one-off incident than a common occurrence.

For future reference, should you remain with koodo, you can get assistance here with most matters.

What customer service? I've been looking on the website for 20 minutes to find a number to call for customer service. I can't set up my new phone because the esim won't transfer using their instructions.

You know what all is in the middle of bonding to your message, the website decided to ask me if I would give feedback and cut me off and I lost the whole message I was writing.

No I'm not a new customer. Yes I do have a self- serve account.

I followed the instructions to set up my existing SIM card on my old Samsung phone to my new Samsung phone and my old Samsung phone will not connect to the new new Samsung phone transfer the SIM.

I have also tried to request a QR code to scan and that sends me in circles then I never get the QR code. The instructions are basically a dead end because the instructions to tell you to do things that aren't even there to do.

Just to confirm, is your old Samsung on a physical SIM or an eSIM? If it's a physical SIM you can just move the card over, unless the new phone is eSIM only.

For an eSIM, the phone to phone transfer tends to fail like that, so I would do it in Self Serve instead, Mobile Services » Get help with SIM cards and eSIMs » Transfer my eSIM to a newer device. Koodo sends a verification code to your number or the email on your account, so keep the old phone active until it goes through. More here https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/esim-on-samsung
