Busuu signs you up for subscription without authorization

I noticed a $15 subscription charge for Busuu on my latest bill, and took a look. It was for Busuu and I know with 100% certainty that I did not subscribe to this. I called Busuu and they gave me their generic response saying that I replied and confirmed subscription. I know for sure I didn’t, since I have a screenshot of the chat history and I ignored the text because I thought it was a scam text. I also confirmed with Koodo who said I never replied to the SMS to confirm the subscription.

It is fairly obvious seeing the other threads on this forum that Busuu is scamming us and trying to catch unsuspecting users. I forwarded all this proof to Busuu and am now waiting for them to refund me, but Koodo should not allow this scam company to charge in the first place.

For Busuu, you need to contact them directly to dispute your bill.

Let me flag a rep to block the third-party purchases on your number.

We have checked your account and we can see that a block for further third party purchases has been enabled on your lines and no further third party purchases should be possible moving forward.

For billing disputes related to those charges, please follow up with Busuu as recommended by the rep.

Also, please make sure you reply STOP to 5490, as indicated in ​@MilkyWay’s response to stop the current subscription.

I have called them to get a refund and was rejected. They have “escalated” it to a manager, but I think it will go nowhere.

I think Koodo should look into the shady practices of Busuu because this seems to be a repeat occurrence for many users.

Yet, when speaking to Koodo, they say Busuu needs to do the refund.

Looks like I am getting the runaround. Who is supposed to provide me with a refund?

What you would need to ask Busuu is the evidence that you subscribed to their service. If they don't have then it is on Busuu. Are they able to give you any proof that they got permission for the charge?

Koodo got the confirmation from Busuu that you agreed to the their service and it was a legitimate charge

Busuu will need to initiate the refund and it will flow back through Koodo’s billing.  Yes technically Koodo gives the refund just like it processed the charge, but it is Busuu that initiates it

I have asked Busuu to provide evidence of this, but they gave me the runaround again saying that they have no insight into this other than that they see there is an active subscription. This is false as well, since I cancelled the subscription since then. They have refused to initiate a refund.

With the number of complaints about Busuu, I feel they are very scammy.
