I switched from Telus to Koodo and kept my old numbers. Just got my first bill and I am being billed for 4 numbers instead of 2. How do I correct that?
When you sign up for a new line with koodo you are assigned a temporary number, since they can't activate the line without a number attached. When your old number is ported in, it replaces this temporary number. If you look closely at the pdf copy of your book, you will see that the charges for the temporary number are a prorated portion of your plan for the brief period between the time your account was activated and the time your old number was ported over. It's not a billing error.
That makes sense but my bill is showing next months charges for 4 numbers as well as the prorated charges you mentioned
I don't have access to your bill. Please post a screenshot (with personal information removed) if you'd like me to look more closely.
I'll flag a rep to have a look.
Hi
We have reviewed the details, and on top of the proration for each of the two ported lines, there is the connection fee for each line, showing up on the temporay numbers (pages 10 and 11 of the bill).
More about the first bill proration, you can find here https://koo.do/InfoCharges
There are also charges for international long distances calls on one of the lines and for international SMS on the other line.
When I signed up with koodo ,there was no mention of a connection fee. I also asked for us talk and text on 4039994688. I got billed for us texts

If you activated in-store, the system automatically added an activation fee for a new line. That should show up in your contract agreement. In some promotion cases, there was a connection fee credit applied. However, it depends on store and time of the activation.
When you signed up with Koodo, what did they say about connection fee?
I signed up on the phone with a sales rep and he just quoted the cost to me and then sent me my sims.

Did they call you or did you call them?
I was with telus and thought I had called a help rep on telus. As it turned out he was a door to door salesman who talked me into switching to koodo from telus. There was no mention of connection fee at the time
Was there an agreement or contract from that interaction?
So a door to door sales person convinced you to switch from Telus to Koodo?
yes,he had come to my house previously tto sell me telus security and gave me his cell number to confirm i wanted it or not so I recorded his number as a telus rep and thats y i called him to add a service to my telus account and he convinced me to get that service plus my cell service for less from koodo

Unfortunately, that activation fee was automatically added though.
I assumed you still had his number? Can you contact him again to make sure you could have the connection fee waived or not?
i have actually contacted telus to determine costs to switch back to them and the end result doesn't have that much difference. The telus rep explained that everyone charges the activation fee
The activation fee is waived if you would have switched online, assuming the plan you signed up for is available on the Koodo website
Finding that out ow. My total mistake. Have paid bill and moved on. Thanks
