I got charged over $100 in roaming charges for two of my lines when I had did not use any data. I purchased another e-sim card to use during my travel to avoid roaming. Can I please get a refund? Thank you.

Hi there,

based on the images you provided you were charged easy roam for making several calls. You’re not charged easy roam for just data usage -- you’re charged if you use any of your plan features.

You will be charged Easy Roam if you make or receive a call, call and check your voicemail, send a text message, or use data. The only time you’re not charged is if you receive a text message and do not require data to do so.

Can you help me flag a rep to check the charges? I don’t remember receiving any calls r checking voicemail as each of those charges is for exactly 1 min which is skeptical.

To add as well, I see a lot of them are for “MSG Retrieval”. Calling your voicemail to listen to voicemails counts as a call while roaming. Something to keep in mind for the future if you weren’t aware.

I can flag a rep but it looks like the charges are valid so you’d have to schedule a callback with an escalation team to pursue further but let me flag a rep and see what they say just in case.

The 1-minute indicator could be if the call was less than 1 min. It rounds to a min as that is the minimum placeholder needed for the Easy Roam Charge to just show on the bill.

Can you check self-serve following the article below? This will give you more details as to why you were charged. Check this first and let me know if what you find makes sense or not. Tbh though based on the bill it seems like a voicemail call.

To avoid this from happening again, make sure to remove your Koodo SIM card from your phone or disable your Koodo eSIM before you travel abroad.

If you do require your number to make or receive calls and send text messages, you can consider getting an Easy Roam Travel Pass for your future travel plans. While Japan is not a part of the eligible destinations in Asia, it is available in Taiwan. https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/europe-easy-roam-travel-passes

Hi there @Pap160

We verified and we can confirm that the charges are valid. They were triggered by either answered calls, checking voicemail while roaming and in one case, on October 4’th, by sent text messages as well.

If you want to further investigate, you can schedule a callback through our Koodo Assist or send us a private message over Social Media, through the links at the bottom right of this page.
