abroad and cant cancel my service

Hi there,

 

im abroad and cant cancel my service. I tried online and it won’t work. I’m being charged for a service that isn’t being used as of the end of May.  Please help as I need to discontinue my Koodo plan! I don’t have access to X nor Facebook.

The best way to cancel your account while you are abroad is to send a message to a rep on Facebook Messenger or Twitter. However, since you do not have one, I have flagged a rep to help you out.

Just to confirm, are you prepaid or postpaid? That changes how it works. If you're prepaid, there's nothing to "cancel" — you just remove your payment method in Self Serve and it stops billing.


If you're postpaid, most cancellations (unless you're porting your number to another carrier) can't be done in Self Serve — a rep has to process it. The usual way to reach one from overseas is Koodo's Facebook or X, but since you don't have those, another option is to register a free Canadian VoIP number (like Fongo) so you can schedule a callback through Koodo Assist at www.koodo.com/chat. As well, you can use any X, Facebook to chat with Koodo, The X, facebook account doesn’t have to be yours.

And if you're moving to a new carrier, porting your number over will automatically cancel Koodo.

Hi there,

I’m post paid and I removed my creditcard info in May because I was told this would cancel my subscription.  I understand I need to talk to an agent to cancel but I am abroad now. Are they able to call international numbers ? I don’t have access to  X or facebook and I don’t plan on moving the number. I just want to stop the billing and all service asap because it’s not being used.

Hi ​@Zzz_liz, Koodo will not call international numbers for fraud prevention reasons. If you still have access to the postpaid Koodo phone number, you can still schedule a callback to that number using koodo assist while abroad. You can schedule the call here, just make sure to turn on the Koodo service to receive the call. Support Homepage | Koodo Mobile.

You will not be charged Easy Roam or additional fees if you schedule a callback with a rep to the Koodo number when abroad if that is all you use the service for. So, no sending texts, making calls, using data, or checking your voicemail while the service is turned on. If you no longer have access to the koodo number, your other option would be to temporarily make a Facebook or X account, contact a rep, close the Koodo account, and then cancel the Facebook or X account after. A rep on this platform cannot close accounts. Note that once the account it closed, you will then receive a final bill from Koodo.
