I’m on a Canada wide free long distance plan.  I made a call to a 1-954 area code (Florida) and spoke for 10 minutes.  My most recent bill shows an extra !!$8 charge!!!!

What a surprise. But this is price gouging plain and simple. Robbery.

When I go to the self serve option… I cannot even find the “normal” rate charge for a call to the USA.

If I knew it was 80 cents a minute, I would not have used Koodo.

I want to contest this...

Long distance rates can be found here:

I don’t think that you’d realistically be able to contest not knowing what the pay-per-use rate is for a 10 minute call to the US. It’s 50-80 cents a minute between the carriers in Canada. Yes, it’s a rip-off. That’s the telecom industry.  If you make calls often, the 3 dollar long-distance saver add-on is worth it. Or use other methods of placing the call. They don’t put the rate for other countries on service agreements in general. You should make sure ahead of time what the cost to call is in general, regardless of how you place the call.

Allan, thank you for the quick reply.

Yes I can access the page “ https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/long-distance-calling “ directly from your link, but you should be aware that a user can only navigate there from the self serve menu on his own… after multiple clicks and scrolling

At “ https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/ “ in fact I have to:

  1. click on help
  2. scroll down to the very bottom of the page, click on Managing your services
  3. where the menu expands, then scroll to the bottom again
  4. click on view more articles
  5. click on long distance
  6. then double click on long distance calling
  7. where I have to click on International calling
  8. finally click on USA to see 80 cents

Why do you make it so difficult to find???

Well….harder to find makes it easier to make the call, or maybe just the design of the site.

Or you could go to Google, search for koodo long distance rates and click the first result.

You can also ask Koodo assist or use the search function at the top of the website. Searching for or asking the bot "US calling rates" gives you a link to the long distance rates page with the first result:
