Incorrect late charges

I have a $2.04 late charge in my bill I recieved yesterday(April 3). The bill was due on March 31st and I paid it in full on March 31st. I'm not paying a late fee for a bill that wasn't late.

Hi there @Nelson89

We verified the account and found that there was no payment for the January invoice so when the February invoice was released, it was with the past due from January and the ongoing February charges.

When a payment was made at the beginning of March, it covered only 1 of the months, leaving a past due amount on the invoice. The next payment made on the 31’st (in our system it shows as received on the 1’st of April) . That’s why you see a late payment fee present on the invoice.

You can download your invoices as PDF for a more detailed view. and also compare it with the payments made towards the account.

@Allan M  Is correct, the late payment fee is for the  previous payment not this one.

Hi there,

how did you pay the bill? If you paid through a bank transfer, there is a 3-5 business day processing time for the payment to go through and therefore would be late if you paid on the last day it was due. If you paid through self serve, then the payment would be immediate.

I paid by transfer which I've been doing for over 10 years with Koodo and never had a problem. I paid it on the 31st and Koodo assistant confirmed that I did. Not my fault it takes them 3 days to process it. And I'm not paying for it.

The processing time is for your bank institution to process and send the payment and then for Koodo to accept the payment. There is always a delay if you make payments through your bank. The charges are valid.

No, it's not. They said pay by 31st and I paid by the 31st. The contract with Koodo states to pay by the due date or receive late fees. I paid by the due date hence no late fee. Koodo assistant confirmed I paid on the due date. I'm not paying the late fee. It's simple.

If you received the bill on April 3rd, it would’ve been late fees for the previous months bill not being paid, not for the current bill.

You would have to check if you were late paying last months bill. The due date should be reflected on the first page of last months bill and then you can check your payment history in the transaction history.
