3rd Party Charges Not listed on Bill that seems to be fraud like

I have been with Koodo for a decade, with 5 lines and to say the least I am disappointed . I have been charged extra for the past several months.

All it lists is this:

                                In-App Purchase                   $24.95.   ($47 previous month/ $19 before that!!)

                                Total used 5 (event)

I am disappointed that koodo does not list the 3rd party. This leads me to believe koodo is a part of this scam...probably not but i am frustrated with the run-a-round! The process of finding out what these charges were for is tedious! After reaching out to Koodo via phone to be hung up, so i can text and then online chat and finally call back (still waiting)! I researched in the community forum to find out to look for sms code 5415. (By the way this is my elderly mom’s phone). There was no such text. I looked at all games/apps, even looking back at history to find nothing. So I researched the forum again and a thread stated to text 5415 the word “STOP”

And there it was! The reply:

You have successfully unsubscribed from WinSport and will no longer be charged for this service. For any questions, send ca@wwmobileservices.com or call us at 8003727139.

What the heck is that anyway? If Koodo suggests you to look in spam, don’t you think thats a red flag? I would like to block this company from my account.

Sorry I am very frustrated

Thank you for moving your post, Gwen.

It looks like you have found the vendor associated with the in-app charges. Below are a few links that might be of interest to you. The first link is from Koodo’s French community and may need to be translated.

https://communaute.koodomobile.com/facturation-et-paiements-90115/sms-facture-7793137

WinSport content: https://ca.win-sports.com/ & Legal: https://ca.win-sports.com/legal/tc

As for blocking, customers can request to block or unblock all subscriptions and purchases by contacting the merchant directly.

I do agree there should be more transparency with third-party vendors, especially when it comes to billing. Your frustration is understandable. If you still require the assistance of a rep, please let us know.

Most of the time these things are subscribed to through ads that pop up during web browsing.

They do require you to input your phone number, get a 2FA text, and input that number into the website and the site does mention the charges that will apply (albeit in small print).

I do agree though, the third party charges are silly and spammy BUT they also do require the user to consent.

Hi @Gwen.E

We have checked and we can see that the subscription to WinSport has been canceled.

We can also see that there is one subscription active with Soccer Lives fblives.net/ that can be canceled by sending STOP SLIVES to 5415.

Please let us know once you unsubscriber and we will escalate this for you

Thanks everyone. I was frustrated with spending the day just trying to figure out the source. I agree that an agreement of sorts is ‘clicked’ on an ad to get a subscription...I just think the 2FA text did not need a response from my mom (if that makes sense)! The text went to spam (even though i checked) I also looked back on my sms history on koodo site that does not list sms code number at all on the usage page. I think the app or ad found a loop hole for now to get a fast buck!

I’m just having a little difficulty cx Soccer Lives.

thx
