Is there a number that keeps calling that you wish you could simply block. Well, there’s a way! This article will outline several ways to block an incoming caller from Android or iPhone, using your devices built-in OS functionality. Reminder: We offer a free add-on called Call Control. It lets you filter your incoming calls and helps reduce those unwanted spam calls no one likes to answer.

Important: Please make sure you haven't blocked Koodo's number (1-866-995-6636). This will prohibit you from receiving scheduled callbacks from our Koodo Assist

How to:

Android

Android devices offer multiple options to block unwanted calls, using the built in Android OS functionality.

Steps to block a recent caller:

  1. Open the phone app.

  2. Go to your incoming call log, tap and hold the desired number you wish to block

  3. Select “Block Contact” from the pop-up menu which appears.

To block a caller that is not in your recent history, or to manage your list of blocked numbers:

  1. Open the phone app.

  2. Select the Settings icon in the top-right corner (three dots).

  3. Select “Blocked”.

    • You may customize your default call and messaging block settings here

  4. Tap the “Settings” icon in the top-right corner again (cog)

  5. Select “Block List” to add or remove a number.

Notes:

  • These steps may vary across different versions of Android OS.

  • If your Android OS version does not support call blocking, refer to 3rd Party Call Blocking apps via the Google Play Store.

iPhone

iOS offers two options to block an incoming caller:

To block a recent caller:

  • Open the phone app

  • Select “Recent”

  • Select the “i” icon next to the number you wish to block.

  • Scroll to the bottom of the new window, and select “Block this Caller”.

To Block a number that is not a recent caller:

  • Open the “Settings” app

  • Scroll down and select “Phone”.

  • Scroll down and select “Blocked Contacts”.

Notes:

  • SMS text and picture messages will not be seen because the phone deletes them without notifying you. Voicemail experience depends on what you are  subscribed to

    • Visual Voicemail: No notification of new message. Messages can be found in a Blocked Messages list.

    • Standard Voicemail: You will still receive a notification of a new voicemail however you will not see a corresponding missed call.

  • If your iOS version does not support Call Blocking, refer to the Apple App Store for 3rd party call blocking apps.

Voice/Feature phones

Certain feature phones have the option of changing the ringtone for specific contacts. If available, you can change the ringtone for a specific contact, and this can be used to select a silent ringtone (or any other desired ringtone) to screen the unwanted callers.
