I have a monthly plan for wireless home phone. According to website, VoLTE should be accessible to monthly customers. The wireless modem is the standard one: ZTE WF723CA. According to datasheet, modem support VoLTE. According to datasheet, when signal color is green, the device is on LTE and when signal color is orange, device is on UMTS. On standby, my device show green signal status. Every time I make a call, signal color turns to orange. This let me think that device is not using VoLTE and switch to UMTS when a call is made. Checked IMEI on Telus website and it reported that WF723CA will work on Telus VoLTE network. How can I use VoLTE with Wireless Home Phone?

EDIT: The issue disapeared after a power cycle and seams to return after some times... Also, some times,  I got no tone on my phone and, again, a power cycle resolves the issue for some times...

Have you tried moving the Wireless Home Phone to a different location in your home?

Try repositioning the Wireless Home Phone (WHP) to an area closest to a window or an outside wall and away from electrical appliances/devices that cause interference.

I live in remote area where cellular signal is poor to non existent. My WHP is located right next to the indoor antenna of a cellular signal booster.

So when you restart the modem, it will stay green during a call for a while before going orange again?

Exactly, for several days to be more precise

How old is the modem?

Purchased in 2020

Well, any warranty repair is out then. If you like, I can flag a rep to see if there’s any backend issues potentially causing it. If not, it may be the hardware. I’d see about putting the sim card of the modem in another device and placing a call to see if the problem follows. It has high pay per use data and texting rates, but doing it with data off and connected to wifi should prevent that. Or maybe even taking it somewhere with good signal when you get a chance. It is a portable device with 4-5 hour battery life, so it could be worth seeing then.

Good idea, I will try that. No need to flag a rep.
