What is a good signal

Generally speaking, you should have a relatively good signal if there are at least 3 bars on your phone.

What are you trying to do? Are you having connection issues?

Bars are mainly there for decorative purposes. I live in a rural area with lots of hills and dense forestration. The Bell/Koodo tower is 800 meters south of me, and a newly installed Rogers/Videotron is about the same distance, but due east.

Long and short story: passable reception in winter when there are no leaves on the trees,  but spring and summer, phone shows mostly 3 bars but emergency calls only.  The handset detects the stronger (ineligible) Rogers signal, but can’t authenticate.

You have to go into the about phone menu and check the network status. If you show an “unknown” network, you may be experiencing the same phenomenon I do.

A decent signal will show with a number of less than 90 db, although up to 100 might be serviceable.

I have a good signal with 1 bar (calls, internet, video) and sometimes with 1 bar I can’t do nothing. Seems pretty random.
