unlocking old spare iphone 4

I have an old iPhone 4 that I want to put into service as a back up when outdoors.  It is locked to Koodo but I have a new sim for Bell.  I do have my own cell service with Koodo but when I log in and go through the process to unlock it wants my phone number and IMEI for my personal cell.  How do I unlock this other phone?

You should be able to enter the imei of any phone locked to Koodo when it asks for the imei.

Do you get an error when you try to enter the one for the iPhone 4?

Yes, it won’t accept it.  But it also asked for my phone number first, which I gave but it’s to my personal cell and not this old one

I understand the need for a backup phone. However the iPhone 4 doesn't have VoLTE support from both Koodo and Bell (at least that is what they said on their support page). Only iPhone 6 or newer are supportes. Hence you might want to get a different device or test VoLTE before using it.
