Joined Koodo, ported number over, but texting / iMessages not working properly

Hello, I have an iPhone 16 and I switched over from Rogers to Koodo a week ago using eSIM. My old phone number appears to have ported over correctly, and people say they see my usual number on their caller ID when I call. But two lines are showing on my phone -- the original line, and the temporary line from Koodo.

Also, now when I message my contacts, the conversation will often have green text bubbles on my phone, where they were always blue, right up until I switched to Koodo (even for people who are definitely still using iPhones). As well, when other people receive my messages, they show up as coming from my “icloud” email address, instead of from my phone number, and as a result, people think my messages are spam.

Please assist because this is definitely inconvenient.

Hi @catch24

We have looked into it and we can see the port was completed.

Have you tried resetting the network setting on your phone?

The issue is that your iPhone still recognizes the temporary Koodo eSIM number for messaging, causing iMessage to send from your iCloud email and show green SMS bubbles instead of blue iMessages. To fix this, toggle iMessage off and on to force it to re-verify your ported phone number. Also, go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive and ensure your phone number is selected instead of your iCloud email. Restart your phone afterward. If issues persist, resetting network settings or switching to a physical SIM may help.

My coworker actually had the same issue with their device recently but it was related to the number port from their previous provider. It would not allow them to select their phone number under the iMessage settings.

If switching the setting in the device does not work, when you check self serve, does it say your port transfer was completed? Did you receive a message from Koodo saying the port was successful? For them, it was delayed and once completed, it fixed itself after a restart.

Thanks for your reply, although this didn’t work for me.

Thanks for replying -- my number had already been confirmed as successfully ported over, though.
