3G for this phone is the standard quadband. Specifically 850/1900mhz for Koodo. You’re compatible by default unless you have something truly obscure and cheap.
The main 4G band used is Band 4 AWS 1700/2100mhz, which this includes. You’re all but safe on 4G as well as it’s a very mature technology now.
The bands themselves do not assure a “solid” signal. If it works, it depends on your location from a tower, and how good the signal strength is where you are. You should be ok in almost any populated part of Canada, and can review the Koodo/Telus coverage map to compare where you live.
The phone is missing Band 2 (1900 MHz) for both 3G and 4G. Band 2 is the primary band used in urban areas, with Band 5 (850 MHz) used for backup. This means that the phone is restricted to Band 5, only. This could prove to be problematic. Depending on your location, the phone may not be able to connect to a cell site or tower that offers Band 5. Unfortunately, this phone is not fully compatible with Koodo.
Koodo does not have a 2G or 5G network.
Koodo uses the following bands and frequencies:
Bands 5 & 2 (850 MHz & 1900 MHz) for 3G and 4G
Band 4 for LTE AWS-1 (1700/2100 MHz)
Bands 12/13/17/29 (700 MHz) 4G (LTE-A)
Band 7 (2600 MHz) 4G (LTE-A)
