On Thursday last week I went to the Koodo store and purchased a home internet plan. As far as I understand I was told that by today Tuesday I will receive a modem/router and an email with instructions how to setup the home internet myself. The modem/router arrived the next day on Friday. There was a sticker on the package with a web link where to get the instructions. The link took me to Koodo phone app download and upon opening it started with installation steps. I followed the steps and reached to a point where the lights on the modem should be DS: Solid Green; US: Solid Green; Online: solid Green; LAN: Flashing amber. but i got only the SD and LAN lights flashing and the US and Online lights are off. On that step I chose the options “I need Help” and “My modem has some lights flashing” which showed a message with troubleshooting steps starting with “Check activation status
check your email to make sure ISP has activated your internet service for your address. ...”

The last email from Koodo was titled “Hooray! You're now registered for Koodo Self Serve” with the message “Thanks for registering for Koodo Self Serve! Give yourself a pat on the back. Now you can easily manage your subscription anytime! Log in now All the best,
The Koodo Team”

I guess this is not an activation email, right? And I still have to wait? In the first email after I purchased the plan right away I got an email with the title “Your Koodo order is confirmed” with a message ending “… You'll get a subscription activation email. Whether you have an existing account or are creating a new one, just follow the activation instructions. All you need to know about your service subscription can be found in the subscriptions section of your MyKoodo account.”

Please let me know if all this is normal or not, and what should I expect.
I will greatly appreciate your advice

What activation date did you initially set when you signed up?

@RossRoss

We have been unable to identlfy your account based on your community profile, please use the “Login via self serve” option in the community login page and let us know once done.

if the activation date was set for today, then the service should be activated until the end of the day.

I don’t think an activation date was specified, I discussed with the store person if I would be able to cancel any time the  service from my current internet provider and he told me I should be able to cancel any time so I’ll do that once I get the Koodo internet.

I’m currently logged in “Self Serve” on another tab in my browser on a desktop computer, is that what should I do?

I logged out of the community and logged in Self Serve, then on the Self Serve I clicked Help where there was a link to the community and when I chose it I had to make an additional login to the community in order to post here. is that what I was suppose to do, and should do from now on?

OK, hopefully I did it correctly this time. Maybe it became more complicated for me because I registered to the community to ask for help with buying a plan, before becoming a Koodo customer?

I already bought a plan at a good deal, much better than my current provider. Hopefully the service is OK :)

thanks for the advice but I don’t worry from being ripped off because I can always switch to another company If I don’t like the service.

Currently I’m switching from Tech Savvy after being with them for many years, paying $66 monthly for DSL 25 Mbps down, 10 Mbps up. The service was OK but in the recent years the internet got disconnected a lot of times, especially in the recent months if’s very often, restarting the modem fixes it but it’s annoying.
The Koodo plan I got is with a promotional discount as a Public Mobile phone customer $35 per month for 12 months and  40 after that. On cable 100 Mbps download 30 Mbps upload which should be faster.

From what I know, it does take some time to receive the email from Koodo with the activation date. Have you checked your junk mail folder to see if it is there? If not, you may want to wait for a few more days. https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/ordering-online

…. did you just decide not to compare what's available at all?...

I did compare using sites like https://www.planhub.ca/home-internet for 100 Mbps plans but didn’t find a better deal
