Phone having problems connecting to mobile data after hours of WiFi.

That started a few days ago.

Voice works OK.

Needs rebooting several times to eventually get data.

Is it just my phone or a common issue ?

Thanks

Which phone are you using? Were you in a good cellular reception area? If reboots worked, the issue could be from the area you were in. Did it happen to all other places you traveled to?

Note 10+

Good cellular reception area.

Reboots are hit and miss.

Never had such an issue before.

I can’t blame the phone.

Might be either the network or the Sim card.

Can you check the APN settings?. I saw several report where APN are set wrongly by the phone itself. Some users had to reenter APN manually as per this https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/setting-data-your-non-koodo-phone

Yes, I did it and even reset everything to default.

No changes.

You can try your SIM in another phone and see if the problem follows. If the SIM works fine then the issue is from the phone or some settings within the phone. Was the phone originally from Koodo?

Did you recently port in to Koodo? I assume you have restarted your phone a few times, so it might be something that requires provisioning on Koodo’s end. I would suggest you to schedule a callback through Koodo Assist or send a message to a Koodo rep on Facebook Messenger or Twitter to get technical support. https://Koo.do/Chat

Have you tried resetting your phones’ network settings?

Go to Settings > General Management - select Reset, then Reset Network Settings. Confirm choice by selecting Reset Settings. Tap Reset again. A message may appear confirming that the network reset was successful.

This procedure does not erase any user data from your phone and restores cellular, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to their factory default values. You will have to re-enter Wi-Fi passwords and re-pair Bluetooth devices (if applicable). VPN settings will have to be reconfigured (if applicable).

Thanks everyone for the input.

I had to go the hard way and here is what I found.

After several hard resets and even flashing a earlier Android version, I found out that

1   Using a Koodo Sim card disables mobile internet connection to all my radio and Voip apps 7 times out of 10. Yet, Youtube works OK.

Using another Koodo Sim  card has the same issues replicated.

Switching to WiFi solves the problem.

2  Using a Fido Sim card on the same phone worked properly (i.e. stable mobile internet) with ALL my apps 10/10.

What are my options ?

I feel so frustrated that I am ready to switch to competition.

Thanks again,

How old are the Koodo SIM cards?

Was your Note 10+ purchased through Koodo?

Can you provide a screenshot of your Note 10+ APN settings?

Both activated on September 9th.

Note 10+ purchased from Microsoft.ca

APN below.

Try setting the APN type to Internet to see if that makes a difference. You can switch back to internet+mms if it doesn’t work. Remember to save the edited APN.

What’s the model number of your Note 10+? (Settings > About phone).

It is the Canadian version.

How do you go about editing the APN ?

It can not be edited.

Unless I add another one.

I’m using an older Galaxy S7, but the APN settings are identical and editable. They must have changed the ability to edit APN’s on Note series devices. Stumped on why internet+mms won’t work. Thinking the APN type ‘internet’ alone might act as default or none as with other Android devices. In that case, you’ll have to add an APN.

Are there any changes to the APN when the Fido SIM is inserted? Specifically the APN type. Trying to figure out why Fido works and Koodo doesn’t.

I believe I found the fix.

I added a new APN and played a bit with the settings.

Eventually, switching from IPv4/IPv6 to only IPv4 solved the problem.

15/15 without any issues !

Hopefully, that will fix it for good.

So much time wasted …

Thanks again for your time.

Missed that! Mine shows as IPv4 only as well. Good catch and glad to hear it’s working now.

How do I give you a cookie? I landed here trying to figure the same. Your fix solved my problem. :)

Cheers!

I have been having connectivity issues on multiple Pixel 7s for months now, and this solved it for me. I had to manually add a new APN with all the settings of the default one minus IPv6 and now connectivity seems fast and stable again. We often couldn’t do things like login to our banking app before, not without it taking many many tries and wasting a lot of time. Now it just works.

Koodo needs to fix their IPv6 it sounds like.
