daily System OS data usage

A month ago, I bought a new dumb phone and   prepaid Koodoo a yearly sum for 400 minutes talk and 400 texts.  I do not have a data plan.

I have  roaming turned off. and mobile data turned off in my phone.

I just looked  at my data usage for the first time since getting the service a month ago. I noticed that every evening between 9 and 9:30pm there is an entry for .02Mb of data usage. Upon further investigation, I found that the System OS is responsible for this data usage. Is this normal? Why is it doing this?

If the plan doesn't have data, I wouldn't worry about it. System OS activities can be a lot of things. Given the small amount, it might be just daily handshake maintenance between your phone and the tower

Which phone is it, by the way?

You’re on prepaid so it’s nothing I’d worry about. You cannot be made to pay for extra data that your plan doesn't have or an add-on that you never bought. If it happens to use a tiny bit of data anyways that’s registered, then it is what it is for the OS and how it communicates with Koodo.

Thank you both for replies! Dinh, phone is a TCL 4058E.

Since it is a basic flip phone, I don't think you could do much in the settings. I would let it be and use the phone normally.
