I have contacted Koodo many times in the past 6 months.   I live along the border and having roaming off.  Also have only connect to koodo network set in settings.  What else can I do?  I am tired of arguing with the people on the other end.  I have not and never will be going to the states.

Hi @Shyone

We understand that this may become frustrating to see roaming charges on your bill when you don’t cross the border.

This is a worldwide situation when living near the  border, where the phone can pick signal from the towers on the other side of the border.

If the network is switched to manual in the phone settings and the data roaming turned off, then the phone should only pick the Koodo network.

Nevertheless, after a software update, after resetting the network settings, or sometimes after restarting the device, the default network settings may be reinstated and with that the network selection will switch back to Automatic.

We have a helpful article on the community that explains in details how to prevent unwanted roaming when living or traveling near the border

Let me preface this by stating that yes, there should be better and more ways to block roaming. A toggle in self serve would be fantastic. Unfortunately there isn’t.

Now on to suggestions. To be very honest, it sounds like you’ve tried every available setting out there that is suggested to prevent this. At this point my only other recommendation would be to seek out a CAN/US plan.

A lot of Koodo customers have the option of a $65 120GB CAN/US plan in their self serve account to switch to. As well, if you don’t have a tab and don’t mind switching providers, Public Mobile currently has a $34 50GB CAN/US plan.

That way you never have to worry about roaming again and can use your phone regardless of what tower you’re on.
