i am paying monthly for a number/sim on my tablet. (the second account on my account)
but when i try to send a sms from my tablet it says im not connected to a network, but i am, and it also says my device is not connected to a network, but in the settings it is connected to a network.

What you have is a data only tablet plan.
If you want to start sending SMS, then you will need a plan.

You can also look at prepaid plans. It really depends on what your needs are.
Is this just for 1 sms or you want to be able to call and talk as well as send a bunch of texts on a regular basis?

Can you share the detail of your "tablet" plan? Did it say specifically that it was for a tablet? I asked since $34 (included tax) seems to be an expensive one.
As well, which tablet are you using? I knew some Chinese tablet can receive SMS but it might not compatible with Koodo network. The error that you saw might be one of the indication.
