I am looking at getting Travel Pass for our trip to Portugal and have a few questions:
We are leaving in May, 2026 is it too early to get now?
Once I buy, do I need to activate? or as I read it activates automatically once you arrive at your destination?

It would be indeed too early to add the travel pass today since you plan on leaving in May 2026
If you are referring to the 30-day travel pass, this remains on the account for 45 days from the moment you add it to your account.
When it comes to the charge, you will be charged the full fee of the travel pass only when you start using it in one of the included countries and this is also when the 30-day period will start counting.
For example, if you leave on May 5th, and you add the travel pass beforehand on May 1st, the date you will be charged will be May 5th (or May 6th depending on when you start using the service). If you start using the service on May 5th, this is when the 30-day period starts counting down.
This example above is for the 30-day travel pass.
