Phone number transfer not working.

I am trying to move from Sugar mobile to Koodo because, well, half the time the Sugar mobile services don’t work … as is currently the case with their texting server.

The phone number transfer didn’t seem to have worked.

At Koodo I can’t register a self service account because that requires text verification.

But my number is still active with Sugar mobile and there text doesn’t work.

This stupid robot Koodo “Assist” is totally useless, and it won’t redirect me to a real person.

So, now I am stuck. Sugar mobile tells me that Koodo has to request the transfer, but there is no way to contact anyone at Koodo.

Hi Marco,

Are you saying you’re having trouble receiving the text from Koodo? Have you followed the steps here : https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/moving-your-number-koodo

Thanks for your reply …

I am saying that my phone number transfer didn’t work. My phone number is still active at Sugar mobile, and there, at Sugar, I can’t send or receive text. And therefore I can’t sign up for a self-service account at Koodo, because that requires text verification.

Then I think you would need to check with Sugar mobile why you can’t receive such text.

Marco van het Hoog

It’s a circular problem. They tell me that they will only deal with Koodo directly, but when I can’t sign up for a self-service account, I can’t tell Koodo to investigate.

How do you contact a real person at Koodo?

To confirm, the Sugar mobile service is still active and you’re able to send and receive text messages or since the failed port the service no longer works properly?

Did you sign up for Koodo prepaid or postpaid? And do you currently have a temporary number with Koodo setup?

Marco van het Hoog

Sugar mobile account still has 15 days, but their text server is not working anymore.

Koodo prepaid, 1 year.

Koodo doesn’t give a temp number when you tell them to transfer a number.

ah, that is unfortunate. Sorry to hear that it is being such a pain. Thanks for the extra info.

Koodo postpaid when ordered online provides a temporary number if you’re looking to port. For prepaid you’re correct, you would have had to choose a random number first to be assigned and then switched it once you have access to self-serve.

To speak with a prepaid rep, you can schedule a call back using the link below. Note that you do not have to use your number to schedule a call in case you also have issues with calling, you just have to be the one to pick up.

Let us know if you have any problems scheduling the call or speaking with a rep. 🙂

There problem is there “For security purpose, we need to verify your identity through your registered phone number” … and / or the problem is here to set up or access a self-service account. Both don’t work.

All dots were green with a password creator.

Once Koodo suck you in, there is no real customer service.

Do you know if the text server is a temporary issue?

Even if their text server isn’t working, you should be able to verbally approve the port with them over the phone or whatever way they provide support so that you can properly port your number.

When you signed up for the prepaid account, did you use the following link to activate your line? https://activateprepaid.koodomobile.com/en/bc/prepaid/koodo/consumer/activation

Have you followed up with Sugar Mobile to resolve the issue? If it still does not work, do you have the account number to initiate the port transfer?
