I just got a IPhone 17 pro (not from Koodo) My previous device was a Pixel 8 with physical sim.

How can i convert from Physical sim to esim for iphone 17 pro.

Is there a cost or can it be done free of cost for the conversion?

Thanks

Yeah, android to iPhone switches have always been a bit tricky. I had hoped they had made it better by now but it doesn’t sound like it.

Like I said though if you convert to eSim you can then try the eSim recovery in self-serve and just enter the replacement eSim information into the new iPhone, though I am not 100% if this is free to do, they may charge for a replacement.

Alternatively, you can do it the prev way of buying the voucher, swap the sim in self-serve, and then just scan the voucher.

Hi there,

If you want to do it for free, you will need to go into your pixel and convert the physical sim to eSim first. This can be done by following the instructions here: eSIMs on Pixel devices | Koodo Mobile

From there, during the data transfer from your pixel to the iPhone it should take the eSim over. If it doesn’t, you can just choose to recover the eSim through self-serve and then just take the replacement eSim and assign it to the iPhone.

If all else fails, you will have to purchase an eSim voucher for around $10-$15 from your closest Koodo or Telus store and just do a sim swap in self-serve and scan the voucher. 🙂

Thanks Oliver, Your suggestion did help. So the process is

1> Convert Sim to eSim on Pixel 8.

2> Go to Self server and there is a option to move the eSim and it says it is free.

3> Text message gets sent to device to verify number.

4> EID of destination (iphone 17) needs to be entered on self serve.

5> Notification is sent to destination phone (iphone 17) which need to be selected and transfer completed.

The transfer is kind of scary process. The step 5 where  notification is sent to iphone, the android loses connection to Koodo network and the iphone is also not connected. I was struggling to locate the notification as i am not very familiar to iphone, eventually found it. Until then you are in limbo.
