How do I add a name to an account?


Hello, I am trying to upgrade my phone online. I have been sharing my account with my mother for quite some time now, so I do have my own profile and access to everything. When I get to the checkout part, I am unable to proceed since it is my mother’s name with my card address, which doesn’t work. 
How do I add my name instead of someone else’s?

You would have to do a transfer of ownership, or use a payment method that matches the name of the account owner i.e. of your mother and you reimburse her or something like that.  Here is some more info:

Hi there,

To add to Goran, alternatively you can have your mother change your line to be added as an authorised user. This can be done via a call back or through self serve. Steps and details can be found in the link below.

What this means is that going forward, you won't need her to upgrade your line specifically. However, you can't cancel lines on the account or add new ones as that still requires the account owner.

But if you only care about your line, this is a free alternative as a TOWN will change the entire account into your name going forward under your credit and requires a credit check when done or will put you on your own seperate account with just your number if you choose. If these aren't something you want, a permission change would be better.  🙂
