Koodo Community

Hi everyone!

I recently moved from Alberta to a rural area in Northwestern Ontario. I want to change the number on my phone that I use for my business, and i would like to use the area code and telephone prefix for my community, so it's not confusing for my clients. That means that my number would be 807 483 xxxx

The closest city that's listed in the self serve options is Thunder Bay, which is 5 hours away from me. How can I get the proper area code and prefix? I went into a Koodo outlet and they didn't know. I can't find a way to call Koodo and ask them.

Koodo reps can only select from the same numbers that appear in self serve, which means that if your local area isn't listed they aren't able to provide local numbers there. Usually this is because all numbers in that local area belong to another carrier. For NWO, I’d guess Tbaytel.

It's possible that the only way to obtain a local number is to sign up with the local carrier and then port that number over to your Koodo line.

Oh, well that's disappointing. I guess I could install a land line and then transfer the number over - is it possible to port the number to an existing account in that case?

Hi @Likethegum, you can port a number to an existing account, here is a guide https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/moving-your-number-koodo

However, I did find some 807-456-xxxx numbers available when selecting Kenora for the target area code location if you’d prefer that instead.

Please note though, that if an agent changes the phone number for you, you will be charged a $50 fee on your following bill.

Thank you! I'm specifically looking to get an 807 483 number. I don't mind to pay the fee, if it gets me the number I want!

Stratton seems to be the specific location for 807-483 numbers. Unfortunately, I double checked and could not find any available phone numbers in our database for that area.
