Where did you activate your plan? From your description it seems to be the SIM card. Have you download the PDF bill and check the detail on the page 3 and 4?

That would make sense - wouldn’t it be nice if they called it something like “SIM Card Fee”!

Bonus Question: Would the SIM card they sent be linked to my phone# or could I re-sell it? I ended up using an ESIM so have no use for the SIM Card.

Looking further I see I’ve been charged $1.17 for my temporary number used to port in from Bell. That strikes me as ridiculous, yes? I don’t mind paying for services but this seems like the definition of nickel and dime’ing  me.

The partial charges for your temporary number should be compensated with partial charges of your actual number - so the total of your invoice should be correct. It’s hard to tell from the blurb you posted, but I’m pretty sure it will add up correctly :)

So the partial charge doesnt line up with the days before you ported? Can we see page 3 of your detailed billing with personal details blocked out?

With these screenshots that’s the whole bill. The total billing of $33.53 is $32.21 for my primary number plus $1.32 for the temporary number used for porting. I ported on Saturday April 15th. I believe I received the temporary number on the 14th.

At the end of the day I’m not going to chase down the $1.32 - it’s not really worth anymore life energy except it doesn’t seem appropriate. 

I have not seen that before. I'll flag a rep to help explain what it was for exactly.

Since you activated at a Koodo dealer, it is likely the reason why you were charged the $10 fee.

@MAC This is what we see the sequence of events be from our side:

It appears on April 12 you called us and wanted open line. This required a temp numbers set up and the mailing of a physical SIM.  That takes a few days for Canada Post to deliver. The standard $50 Connection Fee was waived.  A couple of days later you visited an authorized dealer requesting an eSIM. The dealer charged you the $10 although. On a subsequent contact with one of our reps, there is a $20 SIM credit.  This appears incorrect, as the notes on your account don’t make the reason very clear. 

All in all, everything seems to be ok with the bill. Would you agree?

@Bernard Koodo Thanks for the reply. I purchased the eSIM from the authorized dealer, for $20, prior to realizing Koodo would provide a physical SIM via mail. At the time I erroneously believed my iPhone 14 could only use an eSIM.

When the authorized dealer contacted Koodo during the activation process Koodo was very kind and provided me with a $20 credit to offset the eSIM purchase.

The only “discrepancy” that remains is the $1.32 ($1.17 +tax) charge on the temporary phone line, 613-206-3194. At this point in time I consider that a rounding error and am not looking for resolution.

As an aside, and to conclude your assistance here, is the SIM card that I received setup for my phone# or is it “blank” and could be used for another new activation?
