Question

upgrading a tablet to a phone

My son has had a tablet/data plan (tablets with data plans are registered to a phone number, that's not useable, and i guess just allows the tablet to access data) he's had it for 2 years and was recently payed off.  I wanted to upgrade it to a cell phone, but every time I try to order it along with a new plan, it comes up with an unknown error “please refresh or try again later”…. And it doesn't work later, I've been trying for weeks.
I'm assuming this is because of something to do with that unusable number.…
Anyways, I'm not sure how to resolve the issue, if anyone is able to tell me how, it would be greatly appreciated!

Did this help you find an answer to your question?

It might be an issue with the data only plan. Have you tried to add a new line to your account instead of upgrading the current tablet plan? You could do that and cancel the data plan later.

Tablet plans are separate from phone plans. You may need to add a new line to your account in order to get it to work.

It's likely that Koodo keeps tablet plans separate from regular plans in such a way that simply switching plans to a non tablet plan doesn't work in self-serve. If you like, we can flag a rep to confirm. But also you have the option to just cancel the line(requires a callback) and then creating a new line.

Tablet plans have a phone number to them. You can even make Calls and texts with them but they have a very high pay per use rate to discourage people from using them as cheap cellphone plans.
