Hello,

I took over my dad's phone with my phone number. I am an apple user through and through but this is an Android. I would like to switch.

My question is my tab balance says zero but when I go I to it it has a negative balance, if I upgrade my phone will I have to pay the balance or will it just be added. I think it will be added to my bill but not sure.

So it gets confusing now becasue there are two tabs.

  1. Tab: This is essentially the portion of the phone's value that you agree to pay off over a two-year period (or less_. Imagine it as a financing plan for the phone. Every month, a part of the phone's value is added to your phone bill until it's fully paid off at the end of the two years.

  2. Tab Bonus: This is like a discount or a credit offered to you by the provider. It's an amount they cover as a part of the phone's cost. You don't have to pay this amount unless you decide to leave the contract early. If you terminate your service before the two years are up, they will prorate this Tab Bonus, and you’d be responsible for paying off the remaining portion before you can switch providers or get a new phone with a new Tab.

So if there’s a tab bonus still on the account, you would need to pay that in order to change phones.
