If you want to pick up your phone at a store (such as a Koodo shop, The Mobile Shop, OSL, etc) you have to do the upgrade at that store. Usually there's a $50 connection fee for doing an activation in-store, but right now some places such as The Mobile Shop have deals through Koodo where the connection fee will be credited back.

Thanks for the reply.  I just don’t understand why you can’t pick up the phone from a Telus/Koodo dealer like you can with Rogers and Bell.

Telus let’s you! Must just be one of those premium brand reservation things.

You can do place a pickup order in store if you order the phone over the phone with a rep but there would be connection fee still if you’re trying to avoid that.
