Koodo Sales Misrepresentation – Promised $25 Plans, Charged $50 + Activation Fees

I am writing to share my very disappointing experience with Koodo and to ask if others have gone through something similar.

A Koodo sales agent named Ruben D came in person to our home in Brossard and offered us a promotion. He clearly told us that:

  • Each line would be $25 per month

  • The price was guaranteed for 5 years

  • No activation/connection fees

  • No extra or hidden charges

I asked him multiple times specifically about activation fees, and he repeatedly confirmed that nothing except $25 + tax would appear on the bill.

After receiving the bill and the contract, we were shocked to discover:

  • The plan is actually $50 per line, not $25

  • $80 activation fees were charged

  • A third line was added without our consent

We have not paid anything yet, as we are disputing the charges.

The agent even gave us his personal phone number and told us to contact him if there were any issues. However, since we received the bill, he has completely stopped responding to our calls and messages.

We only switched from Bell because we trusted the information provided by this sales agent, and we deeply regret this decision due to the lack of honesty and transparency.

I am extremely dissatisfied with Koodo’s sales practices and how this situation has been handled so far.

Has anyone else experienced something similar with Koodo or door-to-door sales agents?
Any advice on the best way to resolve this would be greatly appreciated.

IMO, I would never trust door to door sales people due to scams and identity theft.

Did you have all the “promises” on a paper / contract document?

When you spoke to the agent, was there any confirmation that the $50 plan came with any pending credits to lower the plan price to $25?

Note that there is a 15 day refund period if you are within the usage allotment.

The 5 year price lock is the Telus feature.  I have never heard of it for Koodo.

Unfortunately sales people get commissions so they are incentivized to to get sales.

No, it was not in writing. However, when he was activating the lines, he was on the phone with Koodo, and that call was recorded by the operator. During that activation call, my husband clearly confirmed multiple times that the monthly price would be $25 with no additional charges, including no activation fees. and he said yes.

When you spoke with the agent on the phone, did they confirm the prices and lack of any pending credits to match the promised pricing?

Yes.

Were they able to correct the issue?

If not did you cancel and get a full refund during the 15 day return period?

Hi @Mohammad mesbah

We are sorry to hear about this experience!

We want to make sure this is addressed for you as soon as possible.

Just to confirm, when you signed up, did the rep provide any breakdown of the price, whether there are any credits added to the plan to make it $25?
