SIM card number is not available to be activated

Hi,

I bought two SIM cards from Best Buy and tried to activate new Pre-paid accounts at home.

When I went to do this on Koodo site, I got the following message for the SIM card:

“SIM card number is not available to be activated”

In fact - I got this error message for both SIM cards.

Any idea what else I can do and who to contact?

Thanks.

I want to go on pre-paid plans.

Thanks.

Unfortunately, those are postpaid SIM cards. You should go back to your Best Buy store and get them replaced with the prepaid ones.

I just saw another user’s post with the same problem.

Is there a difference between Pre-paid and Post-paid SIM cards?  Could Best Buy have sold me the wrong type - which is causing this activation problem?

That is possible. Prepaid and postpaid SIM cards are not compatible with each other. Which colour is your SIM card? Is it green and purple or pink and orange? That would help determine whether you have a prepaid or postpaid one.
