I am in the process of switching to a prepaid account but I’d like to get a new number. If I choose to get a new number instead of transferring my old postpaid number, will my old account still close automatically? Or will I have to call Koodo?

You need to contact Koodo to cancel your service.

Then you will receive your final bill for postpaid account. You can still access to your self serve for 90 days after the cancellation. It's always better check it if there is no outstanding balance on your account.
