Number porting from Telus prepaid. Area code question.

Hello.  I hope to move my 2 Telus prepaid accounts to Koodo prepaid and have a porting question.

I live in the 780 area code, but the numbers I want to port are in 519 and 902.  Koodo would likely give me a temporary local 780/587 number before changing to the numbers I want to port.

I’ve seen quite a number of online comments from people on various providers and in similar scenarios encountering issues during the porting process.  Minor issues like a slightly longer time to process the request to the request simply being rejected.

Any one have any experience in this sort of porting situation?

Thanks

You should just be able to port the numbers during the activation process and not have to deal with any temp numbers!

Is that something new?  Perhaps Telus and Koodo coordinating their efforts?  I’ve always understood it that a temp number was the norm.

That is usually the case for postpaid plans, since the SIM card needs to be activated and mailed to you before you are able to use it. With a prepaid plan, you can start the transfer of your existing number right away. https://activateprepaid.koodomobile.com/en/bc/prepaid/koodo/consumer/activation

The only issue prepaid to prepaid would be going from Public to Koodo Prepaid. The systems can get a lil grumpy at that but Telus Prepaid to Koodo Prepaid should be fine!

Thanks for the replies.  I’m not quite ready yet to move things over, but I’ll update this post after I do.
