I have a prepaid SIM card that I purchased a while ago and haven't used. I'd like to know the expiration date of this SIM card. Where can I inquire?

I don’t believe Koodo SIM cards have an expiry date. If the SIM is inactive, you should still be able to use it and activate it.

However, when I insert the SIM card into my phone, it goes into SOS mode and won't connect to data. The APN is set correctly, and I tried manually connecting to the Koodo network, but it failed.

Is it possible that Koodo prepaid SIM cards cannot be used in Vancouver?

Hi there,

Sim cards do not have an expiration date. Did you setup a plan on the sim? If it does not have a prepaid plan associated with it, it will read SOS. You have to do this to make it usable.

If you also had the plan active on the sim before but havent used it in a long time and the account was deactivated, this would also make the sim obsolete and not usable. They're a one time use kinda deal.

Prepaid sims are usable in vancouver.

I purchased a prepaid SIM card loaded with a prepaid plan.

Will the prepaid plan be automatically canceled if I don't use it for a long time?

Is there a way to reactivate it?

Yes that is correct. Prepaid is a subscription service so once you purchase it, unless you buy a 360 day plan, it lasts for 30 days.

Once the 30 days is up, you have to "top up" the account for the cost of the plan again. Otherwise the account will be suspended for 90 days. At the end of the 90 days, the account closes.

You can top it up online through koodo self serve for the prepaid account if it hasnt been 90 days since the plan was suspended or by using the sim and calling *611. If it is suspended, this could also be the reason it reads SOS. If the account is closed, its no longer usable.
