Esim activation failed and i cannot register to self serve so I cannot get a new esim

I recently purchased the 100$ yearly prepaid plan however the esim activation failed. I tried registering to self-serve in order to obtain a new esim however to register i would need my sim card to be active in order to receive the 6-digit security code. How can i get a new esim? I tried using koodo assist but the bot would not connect me to a human rep and kept telling me to register to self serve which i currently cannot.

I still have the QR code. I was connected to the wifi at the time and it gave me the message “Unable to activate esim”. My main problem is that im travelling for work overseas and will not be back in canada for a couple of months so i cannot visit a Koodo store. This is why im here to ask for a koodo rep to send me a QR code to my registered email or via PM, i can provide any verification that is required as i really need access to my phone number and i dont know what to do.

Oh, that might be the reasons for the failed registration  since you didn’t have Koodo network to finalize the activation process.

Koodo SIM prepaid doesn’t work overseas (prepaid only works in Canada and US with roaming) by the way. I would recommend you re-activate it when you are back to Canada or you can ask someone in Canada to add the eSIM to their phone.

Eh, I am little confused. So you tried to create a self-serve account first before getting the eSIM? It doesn’t normally work that way.

Have you tried to follow steps in this page? https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/activating-your-prepaid-account?

As well, were you credit card charged?

I already got an email with my esim after activating my pre-paid account and my credit card was charged. However when I tried activating the esim the process failed for whatever reason. Im trying to get a new esim but i cannot sign up for self serve because the security code is being sent to my inactive esim and i cannot receive it.

What was the specific error when you added it? did you have a WiFi connection at the time? Do you still have the QR code?

If the eSIM wasn’t added properly (or was deleted), you will need a replacement eSIM first. You might need to visit a Koodo kiosk or store and ask a rep to sell you an eSIM voucher and ask them to switch for you https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/esim-and-esim-vouchers?

Thank you for that very useful information Dihn because I’m in exactly the same situation (trying to activate abroad).

I wish this information was explained properly on the Koodo site.
So, to have a friend activate it in Canada, I’m guessing I need to,

1 - Erase it from my phone (or maybe not since it hasn’t even been activated on the network)?

2 - Send him the QR code so he can activate it on his phone and register it on the network?

3 - Have him erase the eSIM on his phone?

4 - Reactivate the eSIM on my phone with the QR code.

5 - And I don’t need to add roaming or anything?

And then it would start working properly or do I need to take other steps?

I just need a Canadian number to receive text messages for 2-step verification at Canadian banks because email and VoIP don’t work for some of them anymore.

Thank you so much in advance.

Thanks for the quick reply Robert.

I just need a Canadian number and to be able to receive text messages abroad (only 3 or 4 times a year).

I researched it before buying and people had said that you can receive international texts with the 360 Prepaid plan.

If that information is not correct, how do I get my money back? 😥

Yes you can receive international texts (texts from other countries) while in Canada.

For the most part, all prepaid wireless services in Canada do not roam internationally (overseas).  This is the norm with few exceptions
